In 1985 the "Friends of Holyhead CAB" were established as an independent charity, assisting the CAB by raising funds to support the work carried out by the staff and volunteers of the Holyhead Bureau.
With the expansion of the Bureaux across the Island, and in line with Holyhead CAB becoming Canolfan Cynghori Ynys Môn Citizens Advice Bureau, a Company Ltd by Guarantee with Charitable status, the Friends have become "Friends of Ynys Môn CAB".
With the income from fund raising activities such as the "Club 50", plant sales, quiz nights, and generous donations from our Corporate Members (presently consisting of Anglesey Aluminium and British Nuclear Fuels), the Friends of CAB continue to flourish. The money raised has been used to purchase furniture and utility items for the Bureaux and outreaches, such as a fridge, microwave, water heaters, and numerous other essentials. The Friends also assist with childminding costs for voluntary advisers and additional training costs.
Meetings are held bi-monthly in Holyhead CAB. The Friends of Ynys Môn CAB are presently a small membership and are currently trying to attract additional support. Being a Friend is a rewarding task and they are always looking for fresh ideas and new members will be welcomed.Anyone wishing to become a 'Friend' of Ynys Môn CAB should contact Marion at Ynys Môn CAB
